Report: The Creators of LittleBigPlanet Are Working on an Open-World Game
Media Molecule, the British studio behind LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, is reportedly working on a brand-new open-world game that sounds very different from their previous titles.
Media Molecule, the British studio that brought us the iconic LittleBigPlanet series and Dreams, is working on a brand-new game that sounds very different from anything the studio has done before. According to a report from MP1st, the portfolio of a senior environment designer who joined the studio in April 2025 states that he's working on an "unannounced project, new IP," and that his responsibilities include building main points of interest and "open-world content" that is explicitly mentioned.

This isn't exactly surprising, since back in May 2024, Mark Healey, one of the studio's founders who left in 2023, publicly stated that the studio was working on a new IP, adding that from his understanding it's "more of a game than a creative tool." That already said a lot, considering Media Molecule's recent games were primarily experiences focused more on creation. In 2023, the studio stopped supporting Dreams, and later that year laid off between 15 and 20 percent of its staff—a difficult period that likely accompanied the transition to the new project.
