Fable Delayed to February
Xbox has announced that Fable, one of its most anticipated games, has been delayed from its planned fall release to February 2027.
One of the most anticipated Xbox games for 2026 was Fable. We heard very little about the fourth game over recent years until this past January, when as part of Xbox's Developer_Direct 2026 event, we finally got an extensive look at gameplay from the highly anticipated title. Although there were still quite a few question marks surrounding Fable, one thing we knew was that the game was expected to arrive during the fall months, but that was true until last weekend.
This past Friday, Xbox announced that Fable's launch has been moved to February. In the company's statement, it was written: "This year is packed with incredible games for Xbox players, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI. To plan our game launches during the holidays in a way that best serves players, we are moving Fable to February 2027 so it can receive the special moment it deserves. We're excited to give players a new and significant look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7." Publicly, Xbox is presenting the delay as a move designed to spread out the company's game releases, but the real reason is most likely the fact that the game needs more development time to finish it and release it in the best possible state, though this is only an assessment.
As of now, we haven't received a more precise release date than this broad launch window, but we'll continue to follow and update on the matter. Fable will launch in February for PC and current-gen consoles.
