Official: The Witcher 3 Will Get a New Expansion Pack Launching Next Year
CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that The Witcher 3 will receive a new expansion called 'Songs of the Past,' set to launch next year for PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5.
After a flurry of rumors and reports on the subject, today CD Projekt RED put an end to the speculation: the new expansion for The Witcher 3 is real.
The company officially announced that the new expansion for its beloved game, which first launched in 2015, will be called "Songs of the Past," and is currently set to release for PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5 during next year. The company did not announce any substantial information about the expansion aside from its name, but it was revealed that it is being developed in collaboration with studio "Fool's Theory," known among other things as the studio set to develop the remake of the first game in The Witcher series. CDPR revealed that it will provide additional details about the new expansion during the upcoming summer, so it's unlikely we'll see much more from it at the upcoming brand content event scheduled to take place today.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was and remains one of the most beloved PC games of all time, with many considering it the best game in The Witcher series. The game first launched as mentioned in 2015 and has since sold over 60 million copies worldwide. The game's two previous expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, received very high praise from audiences, so all that remains for us is to hope that the quality level of the new expansion will be close to that of the two previous expansions. Some of the reports and rumors on the subject claim that the new expansion will essentially serve as a "story bridge" leading up to the series' new game, The Witcher 4, which is currently not expected to launch until after 2027.
