Official: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Revealed, Launching in October

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been officially announced, featuring a North Korean invasion of South Korea with a release date set for October 23rd across multiple platforms.

Here it is, folks — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is this year's entry in the popular shooter series, focusing on a North Korean invasion of its southern neighbor, which also draws in U.S. involvement. After the last two years brought us Black Ops 6 and 7 respectively, the series returns to reality with a game that's expected to be much more grounded.

As mentioned, the game is set to take place in Korea and will unfold from the perspective of South Korean soldiers, but it's also expected to take us to locations like New York, France, and Mumbai through the eyes of Captain Price, who returns from the third game in the series and is hinted to have some connection to the conflict between the two nations.

No gameplay was really shown for the game — that will likely come during the Xbox event on June 7th — but we did get some dry details about the game's multiplayer. It's expected to launch with 13 maps, some of which will be based on different locations from the campaign while others will be built specifically for it. Some of the maps shown include a Korean city, a map set on New York building rooftops, and a remote village in France. The game is also expected to launch with three new game modes — Counter Attack, Inflation, and Hijack — though we don't know too many details about them except for what was said about Inflation, in which players accumulate cash through kills of other players, with each player having a bounty on their head based on their performance, and the team holding the highest amount of money at the end of the round wins.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is expected to release on October 23rd for Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, PC, and Switch 2.
